Baier's Take on Harris Interview: A Different Perspective
Thu Oct 17 2024
Fox News host Bret Baier recently reflected on his interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. He shared that he quickly realized Harris wouldn't be easy to redirect without interrupting. The interview, her first on Fox News since becoming the Democratic nominee, was scheduled for 5 p. m. but started 15 minutes late, which Baier compared to "icing the kicker" in football. The original 25-30 minute timeframe was reduced to 20 minutes, and Harris showed up at 5:15 p. m. , making it challenging to meet the 6 p. m. broadcast deadline. Baier found Harris tough to steer from her talking points, similar to his experience with President Obama. Towards the end, Harris' team signaled that Baier's time was up. Baier later suggested that Harris might benefit from more interviews like this. He expressed some frustration during a later interview with Mark Levin, noting the interview didn't go as he envisioned. Baier hoped for a civil back-and-forth but felt it was more about creating viral moments and practice for debates.
