The Bangladesh National Party has taken control after a long wait, winning a strong majority in last week’s elections. Tarique Rahman, son of the party’s founder, is expected to become prime minister and bring a fresh direction after two decades out of office.
Rahman’s campaign slogan, “Bangladesh before all, ” highlighted several bold plans for the country. He pledged to revive closed industries, expand exports, and simplify rules so foreign firms can send profits back home quickly.
Job creation is a top priority, with the party aiming to add about one million positions in tech and communication. Wages will be tied to inflation, and a new review system will check salaries every two years. Youth training in skills and languages is also on the agenda to help them secure government jobs fairly.
Economic ideas include setting up international payment networks, regional e‑commerce centers, and encouraging local manufacturing. A “Family Card” would give low‑income households monthly allowances for basic goods, and health spending is set to rise gradually to 5% of the national budget.
Social initiatives focus on education, sports, and community support. A mid‑day meal program for students, a new values‑based school policy, and improved sports facilities are promised. Additionally, training programs for religious leaders across all faiths aim to strengthen community ties.
