The new division will be led by Gonzalo Miró, a well-known figure in Spanish TV and radio. This announcement was made at Mipcom on Monday. The goal is to produce original content related to sports, including entertainment shows, documentaries, and digital content. The decision to start Banijay Iberia Sports comes after Banijay Iberia CEO Pilar Blasco's initiative. Last year, the company introduced Banijay Sport, and this year, they teamed up with Spain’s top soccer league to create LaLiga Studios. By creating a new sports unit, Banijay Iberia wants to show their commitment to athletic competitions.Gonzalo Miró started his career in the audiovisual industry by working on short films. He later studied filmmaking in New York and returned to Spain to become a TV presenter. He has since appeared on various Spanish TV and radio shows. Miró is excited about his new role. He believes this will attract new talent and create more sports-focused stories. Pilar Blasco, the CEO, also expressed her enthusiasm.
