Basketball Coach Dan Hurley's Battle with Depression

Dan Hurley, the head coach of the UConn Huskies, had a tough road as a young basketball player. Growing up in Jersey City, the pressure to succeed was immense. His dad was a Hall of Fame coach, and expectations were high. Dan excelled in high school, leading his team to a nearly perfect record. But college didn't go as planned. At Seton Hall, he struggled with mental health issues, feeling lost and in emotional pain. Basketball was his identity, and when things weren't going well, it hit him hard.He even stepped away from the game he loved. A psychiatrist diagnosed him with depression, but he chose a different path to recovery. Now, as a coach, Hurley leads with compassion, something he learned along his journey. His empathy and connection with players have made him a success story, guiding the Huskies to national championships.
