Bath & Body Works: New Leadership and Big Plans

Columbus, Ohio, USAMon May 19 2025
Bath & Body Works has a new leader at the helm. Daniel Heaf has taken over as the CEO, stepping into the role immediately. Heaf comes from Nike, where he was the chief strategy and transformation officer until his position was cut by the new Nike CEO. Heaf's journey to Bath & Body Works is quite the story. He moved to Columbus, Ohio, just this past weekend. He is expected to meet with top executives and get acquainted with the company's operations. Heaf's background is impressive. Before Nike, he led Burberry's digital transformation. He also oversaw 45, 000 employees and 9, 000 stores in 41 countries at Nike Direct. This experience will likely be valuable as Bath & Body Works looks to expand its international reach and appeal to a broader audience. The company is aiming to connect more with tweens and attract more men. This is a smart move, as these demographics represent significant market potential. The change in leadership comes after Gina Boswell's tenure. Boswell joined Bath & Body Works from Unilever in December 2022. She took a leave of absence in March for surgery. Boswell's time at Bath & Body Works saw the company return to profitable growth in the post-pandemic era. The company's supply chain is mostly in North America, which has helped it avoid the brunt of tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. Bath & Body Works is not just changing its leadership; it is also looking ahead. The company preannounced its first-quarter results, which exceeded expectations. Revenue grew by 3% year over year to $1. 42 billion. Earnings per share were 49 cents, topping the previous year's 38 cents and beating the company's own guidance. The retailer is reaffirming its full-year guidance, assuming a 10% tariff on goods from China but excluding any other tariff changes. Currently, Chinese imports face 30% tariffs. The company's strategy seems clear. It wants to accelerate growth and expand its market. With Heaf's experience and the company's strong financial performance, Bath & Body Works is positioning itself for future success. However, the retail landscape is always changing. It will be interesting to see how the company adapts and grows under Heaf's leadership.
