Bay City's Weekend of Fun and Giving

Bay City, USAFri Nov 14 2025
Bay City is known for its lively spirit, and this weekend was no exception. Instead of the usual downtown festivities, the town engaged in two unique events that combined fun with a sense of community. The first event was the Bay City Noon Optimist Club's annual fundraiser, held at the Kawkawlin Township Hall. This event featured camel races, which, despite being on wheels and made of wood, provided a unique and entertaining experience. The fundraiser included hooting, hollering, gambling, a chicken dinner, and an open bar. All proceeds from the event were donated to the Nate and Mary Ida Doan Santa House, making it a night filled with good cheer and goodwill. The second event was the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet. This event honored Bay City Central graduate and former NFL player Trenton Robinson, as well as the 1999 national champion Delta College softball team. The Hall of Fame also presented six $1, 000 scholarships to recently graduated student-athletes who had made significant contributions to their schools. The banquet was held at the DoubleTree hotel and conference center, providing an opportunity for the community to celebrate the achievements of its athletes and coaches. Both events highlighted the positive impact of sports and community involvement in Bay City. They reminded everyone of the town's strengths and the importance of coming together to support local initiatives. It was a weekend of celebration, reflection, and giving back to the community.
