Belarus Releases Political Figures, US Eases Restrictions

Meanwhile, a group of the released prisoners is expected to arrive in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, where a crowd has gathered outside the US embassy. The European Union has not acknowledged Alexander Lukashenko as the legitimate president of Belarus. Lukashenko's close alliance with Russian President Vladimir Putin adds a layer of complexity to the situation.
