Ben Affleck Skips Politics After Calling It Tawdry
Ben Affleck has made it clear he won't be jumping into politics. The actor described the political world as "tawdry" and "depressing," saying those words have no appeal to him. When asked about potential roles in local elections, he simply declined to give any names. He admitted he hasn't thought about running for mayor in Los Angeles yet and prefers to stay neutral until his film project releases.

His recent Netflix thriller "Animals" actually gave him some real-world insights. While playing a character running for mayor, he noticed how voters reacted to his campaign persona. They were curious and wanted to see his side of the story. That experience showed him just how messy and transactional political campaigns can feel.

Beyond the movie, Affleck expressed deep frustration with the current state of government. He feels the standards for politicians have dropped so far down that people are just looking for anyone to "shoot them straight." He's seen plenty of hypocrisy, corruption, and failure in the system. Because of that, he's decided against entering any political race himself.
