Beware: Ballot Box Arsonist May Strike Again

Authorities in Portland warned that the suspect behind recent ballot box fires might attack again before Election Day. The incident, which destroyed hundreds of ballots in Vancouver, involved a device set up at another ballot box in Portland. The same suspect was linked to an earlier fire in Clark County that caused no damage. Investigators describe the suspect as a man in his 30s or 40s, with short hair and a slim build. He is skilled in metal work or welding and drives a dark-colored Volvo S60 from 2001-2004.Local and federal authorities are stepping up security. Portland Police Bureau (PPB) seeks the public's help to find the suspect and his car. The car has distinctive features including a missing Volvo emblem and dark wheels. Anyone with information should contact Detective Meredith Hopper or the tip line. Rewards are offered for tips leading to an arrest.
