This event, called "Be a Hero at the Big House, " is part of the 43rd annual Blood Battle with Ohio State University. The rivalry isn't on the football field this time but in the number of blood donations collected during October and November. Blood donations often drop during the holiday season, so this pre-season push is crucial. Dr. Robert Ernst, the chief health officer at the University of Michigan, emphasizes the importance of maintaining a steady blood supply.
