Bigfork Boys Finish Third at Hamilton Invitational

The Bigfork boys' track team had a strong showing at the Hamilton Invitational, placing third with 54 points. The meet was cut short by weather, with only 14 out of the usual 17 events completed. Robert Merchant, Quinn Kerr, and Tayden West dominated the 100 meters, finishing 1-2-3 respectively. Merchant clocked in at 11. 26 seconds, a solid performance in the sprints. Hamilton took the top spot with 57 points, narrowly beating Corvallis by a single point. The Vikings had a standout performer in Tamret Savik, who won the triple jump with a leap of 45 feet, 6 inches, and also placed second in the high jump. Frenchtown's Henry Griffin made his mark with impressive throws in the shot put and discus, recording distances of 56-3 and 175-6 respectively.
Columbia Falls managed 34 points, with Joe West winning the javelin with a throw of 161-5. Easton Brooks nearly matched his performance in the long jump, finishing just an inch behind the winner at 20-5. On the girls' side, Miles City led with 73. 33 points after 15 events, followed by Boulder at 64 and Frenchtown at 48. 33. Whitefish was the top team from the area, scoring 39 points to secure sixth place overall. Ginger Bergland stood out in the 300 hurdles with a winning time of 46. 96. Polson’s Olivia Cottet set a new personal record in the discus, tossing 119-1 to claim victory.
