Bill Bryan Dies at 67 After A Career in Media and Music

Bill Bryan passed away on Friday in Baton Rouge at age 67. His daughters Alison and Jennifer shared the news on Facebook first. By Monday, over two hundred friends left comments expressing their grief. Mark Lambert, someone he knew for forty years, called him an honest and hardworking man who could connect with everyone. The exact cause of death remained unknown at first.

Before building his reputation, Bryan started as a cameraman and reporter for LPSB and WAFB-TV. He later helped political candidates including Edwin Edwards in 1991 and Bill Clinton's Louisiana campaign in 1992. After earning his law degree from Southern University in 1999, he focused on election law cases for state attorneys general. Eventually, he moved into entertainment law and joined the Press Club of Baton Rouge. He also served as president and chairman of the Baton Rouge Blues Festival and Foundation, where he championed the arts.

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, he attended LSU and often visited Louie's Café near campus on weekday mornings. There he would sit with Pat Bergeron and other regulars. He described his daily routine as solving problems of the world. Neighbors say he placed greater value on people, music, stories, and traditions when preserving a city's heritage. Even after his passing, Jim Engster recalled how his perpetual smile made him unforgettable. The family has not yet decided on details for a memorial service.
