Billionaire's Second Shot at Leading NASA
Washington, D.C., USAThu Nov 20 2025
Jared Isaacman, a billionaire entrepreneur, is back in the spotlight as the Senate prepares to revisit his nomination for NASA's top job. The Senate's Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on December 3rd to discuss his appointment. This isn't Isaacman's first rodeo; he was previously nominated by President Trump but faced a sudden withdrawal in May due to his political donations and ties to Elon Musk.
Isaacman, known for his ventures in payments and private space flights, has been clear about his professional relationship with Musk. He has led two successful space missions using SpaceX technology, but insists that his business dealings won't influence his decisions at NASA. The hearing, set for 10:00 a. m. EST, will be streamed live for the public to watch.
If confirmed, Isaacman will replace Sean Duffy, who has been acting as NASA's administrator. The Senate will also consider the nomination of Steven Haines for a position in the Department of Commerce during the same hearing. This time around, the process might be smoother, but only time will tell how the senators will view Isaacman's candidacy.
