Bimekizumab Works Long‑Term for Psoriatic Arthritis

Researchers looked at a long‑term shot of a drug called bimekizumab for people with psoriatic arthritis. Two main trials, called BE OPTIMAL and BE COMPLETE, plus a follow‑up study named BE VITAL, gave the data. The analysis included 1,112 patients who were followed for up to three years.

After three years, more than half of the patients saw their swollen and tender joints go down. Specifically, 59% had fewer swollen joints and 35% had fewer tender ones. Most also improved their overall disease score, with about 55% showing at least a half‑point boost on the standard measure.

The drug also cleared skin and nail psoriasis in many cases, with over 60% reaching full skin clearance. Inflammation in the gut and eye was rare, and markers linked to heart risk got better and stayed better. Serious side effects were low, making the medicine seem safe for long use.

These findings show that bimekizumab can keep psoriatic arthritis under control for years. Doctors may consider it when other treatments fail. The data support using it as a long‑term option for the many ways this disease can appear.
