Bitcoin and Cybersecurity: A New Question
Sat Apr 25 2026
Scaramucci asked on X why Bitcoin, a possible tool to protect against AI threats, might be worth as much as gold. Gold is valued at about $30 trillion. Bitcoin’s market cap is only around $1. 5 trillion now, after reaching a high of about $2. 4 trillion in October 2025.
People replied with many ideas. Some said Bitcoin could grow a lot, while others wondered how exactly it ties to AI security. One comment from Robert Freeborn said that Bitcoin’s role in cybersecurity has no direct link to gold’s $30 trillion value.
Scaramucci often talks about Bitcoin as a major force in the global economy. In February he described it as a neutral, digital store of value that can help in times of political and economic tension. He listed four reasons why Bitcoin seems more appealing each year: rising debt, AI changes, money printing, and global politics breaking apart.
At the moment Bitcoin trades around $77, 884, a slight drop of 0. 4% in the last day. Gold is down about 0. 25% and sells for roughly $4, 682 an ounce.
