A recent slip‑up on BMW’s website exposed the company’s upcoming electric lineup for 2027, sparking excitement among car lovers. The list includes the brand’s first “Neue Klasse” EV, an all‑new iX3 SUV that will hit U. S. markets later this year, and a sedan version of the i3 slated for 2027. The leak shows that BMW is expanding its electric range across several popular models. Two all‑wheel‑drive versions of the i3 40 and 50 will join the lineup, while a new M350 performance model replaces the older M340i xDrive. The iX3 crossover will arrive this summer in three trims—40 sDrive, 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive—offering both rear‑wheel and all‑wheel drive options. BMW is also dropping a new iX4, the EV-only version of the X4, with two AWD grades: 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive. Next up is the X5 SUV, which will come in both gasoline and electric variants. The 2027 model will feature a new iX5 60 xDrive alongside the existing RWD 40 sDrive.
Other changes include an all‑wheel‑drive M2 xDrive, a first for the M2 series, which will still run on a gasoline engine. BMW has now removed this model from its public list to keep the focus on the electric releases. BMW’s new EVs are built on a Gen6 800‑volt platform that promises up to 30% more range, faster charging and less energy loss compared with earlier models. The cars will also use an in‑house “Heart of Joy” ECU, powered by four advanced processors that deliver more than 20 times the computing power of current EVs. The iX3 is expected to reach an EPA range near 400 miles and start around $60, 000. In a test run last November, the vehicle covered 1, 000 km (about 621 miles) on a single charge from Hungary to Germany. With the 2027 models soon to arrive, BMW is offering incentives on its existing EVs to clear inventory. Potential buyers can check local dealers for availability and current offers.
