Boosting Nurse Skills: A Quick Reflection Program

You're a newly graduated nurse, fresh out of school and ready to tackle real-world challenges. This study looked into how a special program could help nurses like you improve your clinical judgment skills faster. They took 153 new nurses and split them into two groups. One group got the usual training with mentors, while the other group got an extra program that used a special reflection method based on the Clinical Judgment Model.The program focused on asking specific questions to help nurses think more deeply about their clinical decisions. After six weeks and three months, the nurses who used the program showed better clinical judgment and noticed problems earlier than those who didn't. Both groups got better at clinical reasoning and judgment over time, but the group with the extra program made faster progress. This shows that adding a quick reflection program can really speed up how well new nurses make clinical decisions during their early days on the job.
