Boston's Heatwave: Record-Breaking Temperatures in October

This: Boston is experiencing summer-like temperatures in the middle of fall! The city broke its daily high temperature record on Monday, with the mercury hitting 83 degrees. That's not all; Hartford also set a new record at 86 degrees. The previous record for Boston on October 21 was 82 degrees, set way back in 1920. The National Weather Service confirmed these unusual highs. They also warned that the unseasonable warmth would continue through Wednesday, with temperatures in the upper 70s. But don't get too comfortable. A series of cold fronts are on their way, starting Thursday and Saturday. These fronts will bring temperatures back to what's typical for late October. By Sunday and Monday, daily highs will only reach the 50s, with overnight lows dipping into the 20s and 30s. A few showers are expected, but they won't do much to relieve the recent dry spell.
