A group of Chinese-controlled bots is trying to sway voters in several U. S. states, according to a new report by Microsoft. These fake accounts are spreading negative messages about politicians who have criticized China's policies. The group behind this, called Taizi Flood, is linked to China's Public Security Ministry. They are targeting politicians like Rep. Barry Moore from Alabama, Rep. Michael McCaul from Texas, and Sen. Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee. The bots have been sharing antisemitic comments, accusing politicians of corruption, and even promoting their political rivals.
For example, they claimed that Moore supports Israel and used antisemitic language against him. They also accused Sen. Marco Rubio from Florida of being involved in a financial corruption scheme. The bots have been posting on social media, but it's unclear how many Americans have seen these posts. The politicians targeted are running for re-election next month, except for Rubio who will be up for re-election in 2028. The Chinese Embassy in Washington denied any interference in the U. S. election.
