Atmospheric and Environmental Research says this polar vortex will bring more snow and cold to the eastern US in early January. Some areas could see snow piling up by 40 mm a day! States like Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Michigan are in for a big chill. The Northeast and Midwest will also see lots of snow, up to 20 mm a day. Even southern states like North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida might get some snow this month. It's a big change from the recent low snow cover over the holidays.
