Bright Red Ball Comes to Dallas for a Week
Dallas, TX, USAMon Jun 01 2026
A huge 15‑foot red inflatable will pop up in different spots around Dallas from June 19 to June 28. The ball, made by Kurt Perschke, has been touring cities around the world for over two decades, and this is its first stop in Texas. The plan is to place the ball each day in a new location, so people walking downtown or visiting the Arts District might see it by accident. The timing matches the FIFA World Cup, so many international visitors could notice it too.
The ball weighs about 250 pounds and has already visited places like Toronto before heading to Dallas. Perschke chose red because it feels playful and draws people in. He says the work sparks imagination and encourages fresh interactions in everyday life.
Other cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Hong Kong, and Sydney have seen the ball tucked into alleys or hanging high above crowds. Some spots let people touch it, while others put it in tight corners for a surprising view. The experience is free and open to everyone.
The project started in 2001 in St. Louis, and the team claims it is the longest‑running street art piece worldwide. By moving from one venue to another, the ball invites residents and tourists alike to pause, take photos, and maybe even lean against its bright surface.
