Bronx Attorney Turns Hurt Into Help

David Lesch works in the Bronx helping people who got hurt in accidents. He fights for money that changes their lives. Many of his clients go from getting food stamps to having hundreds of thousands in the bank. He says they deserved the compensation, but they would rather not have been hurt at all.

He started with his family's firm in 1992, after a few years as a court attorney. Since then he has spent close to thirty‑five years pushing for fair settlements. Although he grew up in Queens, his family’s roots are deep in the Bronx. His grandfather ran an auto body shop there and sent crash cases to his father, Solomon Lesch, after Solomon finished law school. Solomon didn’t want to work for a big firm, so he opened his own practice in the Bronx, and David eventually took it over.

Besides personal injury, Lesch also does guardianship work. He has acted as the legal guardian for more than six individuals, sitting with them in hospice and helping arrange their burials. He and his team advise families on picking someone to make decisions for relatives who can’t manage their own affairs, such as people with dementia. He finds this work rewarding because many of those folks feel lonely and need help with money.

Lesch’s practice is not limited to one area. He also handles divorces, real estate transactions, and sometimes acts as a receiver for properties. He likes having knowledge across many fields, which he says came naturally. At age seven he went with his mother to St. John’s Law School, sitting in the back of her classes and listening to professors he would later have himself. That early exposure cemented his plan to follow in his parents’ footsteps
