What's happening in Buffalo Grove? Village President Eric Smith recently updated the Buffalo Grove-Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce members, and there's a lot to look forward to!
One big project is the mixed-use development called The Clove, near Lake Cook and McHenry roads. This $150 million project has been in the works for a while, and it's set to bring new retail shops, a park, luxury apartments with first-floor retail, and a remodeled shopping center. Chick-fil-A and Guzman y Gomez are already open there.
But what everyone really wants to know is, what grocery store will be moving in? Village officials say it's a nationally renowned one, but they can't share the name just yet. It’s planned to open in 2025. Don't worry, the delay is because of the construction of 295 luxury apartments over seven stories.
Another exciting development is Bison Crossing on Dundee Road. This 16-acre site used to be Rohrman auto dealerships, but it's been empty for 12 years. Now, it’s set to become a 50, 000 square-foot Tesla sales, service, and delivery center. There will also be luxury residential buildings and commercial outlets surrounding a green space with a pool and clubhouse.
In August 2023, the Village Board approved the Dundee Road Tax Increment Financing district to boost development. Some people might think TIFs are controversial, but Village President Smith thinks it's a good way to encourage new projects.
One more thing to look forward to is the new amphitheater in Mike Rylko Community Park. It opened during Buffalo Grove Days in September and has been getting great reviews.
