Buffs' Lesson in Sportsmanship at the Alamo Bowl
San Antonio, USASun Dec 29 2024
The Colorado Buffs had a night to forget at the Alamo Bowl. They faced the BYU Cougars, who were eager and ready to play. The Buffs' mascot, Ralphie VI, seemed to have a sense of the trouble ahead. She quickly left the field, as if she didn't want to be part of what was unfolding. The Buffs struggled throughout the game, managing only 120 yards of offense by the end of the third quarter. Even their star player, Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, couldn't turn things around. The Cougars were faster and more aggressive, scoring on an onside kick and a punt return. The Buffs' coaches didn't help matters either, letting the clock run out without using timeouts. The final score was 36-14 in favor of the Cougars. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise exciting season. The Buffs had a lot to learn from this experience.
