Thu Feb 06 2025
You're living in Texas, a state known for its dynamic economy and passionate politics.
The headlines tell us we’re divided. But what if those divisions could be bridged by people who have a lot to gain from unity? Texas businesses have a unique role to play.
In Texas, everyone's talking about the economy, but they're worried about things like healthcare. And Texas citizens are tired of waiting for progress.
Nowadays, civic engagement hasn't been working well. People aren't coming together to solve problems.
But Texas business leaders have a chance to take action, and most of them say they agree. In a survey, 9 out of 10 business figures from all over the state stress that democratic participation is crucial for a healthy economy.
For a lot of them, their voice really matters. Public policy discussions happen every day, and businesses know their participation can cause a ripple effect.
But notice how they point out a lack of bipartisanship in their own homes.
Businesses are worried about political violence; they are grappling with complex issues, and they are stuck not knowing what to do and when.
Some also hesitate to take part in civic activities because it might affect their business negatively.
These barriers can be intimidating. But it is necessary to find ways to overcome them.
There is an opportunity for business leaders to work together. How?
Well, Texas Business Leader Alliance is a new collaborative initiative to engage business leaders statewide. The main idea is to bring business leaders to the Capitol to familiarize them with lawmakers.
How can they bridge the divide? It's about finding common ground, learning through dialogue and turning shared concerns into action.
It's about stepping outside their comfort zones, engaging and thinking critically.
By being involved, and engaged, business leaders can create a Texas that is vibrant, prosperous and business friendly.
This will lift the voices of our state’s business leaders, offering opportunities and perspectives that align with their civic needs.
Citizens are calling on them to get involved. They are the ones who can make the difference. They are now our bridge builders.
