Cable Wars: Altice Drops MSG Networks from Optimum

MSG Networks, under the umbrella of Sphere Entertainment (SPHR), announced that Altice USA (ATUS) has kicked MSG Networks off its Optimum channel lineup in the tri-state area. In a move to keep their business afloat, Altice has decided to charge customers more and offer less. They've hiked prices by nearly 50% for current Optimum subscribers and a whopping 70% for new ones once promotional offers expire. This means no more Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, and Devils games on MSG Networks for Optimum users. MSG Networks proposed several fair deals to Altice, even offering to continue broadcasting while negotiations were ongoing. Unfortunately, Altice rejected all offers. MSG Networks is still open to fair negotiations. It's important to note that cable companies often use price increases and channel cuts to balance their budgets, but it's the customers who end up paying the price. This kind of negotiating tactic can be frustrating for sports fans who just want to enjoy their favorite teams' games.
