Can We Really Control Hurricanes?

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently said something crazy. She implied that the government can change the weather, and that the Biden administration used Hurricane Helene to punish political rivals. People laughed at her, and rightly so, because her claims don't hold water. But why do some people wish we could control the weather? It's because we crave control over our lives, and unpredictable events like hurricanes scare us. Imagine if we could control the weather. Sounds good, right? But it could also be dangerous. Powerful people might use this control to harm others. We might think we're gods, which isn't healthy. We can't actually control hurricanes like Helene or the recent Hurricane Milton. We can preparation measures, like warning people and building strong structures, but that's about it. Our government can't control hurricanes, but it can help with protection and recovery. It hasn't done a great job so far, and we should hold it accountable. We also need to accept that we have limits. We can't do everything, but we can try our best. That means telling the truth, fighting for justice, and helping our neighbors hit by these natural disasters.
