Carmy's Big Decision and The Bear's Uncertain Future
Chicago, USASat Jun 28 2025
The Bear's fourth season ends with a powerful episode called "Goodbye. " This episode is all about Carmy's choice to leave the restaurant and hand it over to Sydney. The whole scene takes place in one spot, with just a few characters, and it's packed with emotions.
Carmy feels lost and unhappy, and he thinks leaving is the best thing for everyone. He tells Sydney she's a better chef and manager than he is, which is a big deal. Sydney is hurt because she came to the restaurant to work with Carmy. She loves the place and the people, but she came for him.
Richie, Carmy's cousin, is also part of the conversation. He's upset at first, but then Carmy shares a secret about Mikey's funeral, which helps Richie understand. Sydney wants Richie to be a partner in the restaurant, which shows how much they've all grown.
Natalie, Carmy's sister, joins them and immediately gets why Carmy wants to leave. She supports him but also feels sad because she knows how much he's been struggling.
The episode ends with a countdown clock hitting zero, which means the restaurant's money is running out. But it's not clear if this is the end of The Bear or just a new chapter.
The season has wrapped up many emotional stories, but there are still some loose ends. Will the restaurant get out of debt? Will they get a Michelin star? What will happen to the sandwich window? These questions are left unanswered.
