Catch the Rare 'Atlas' Comet in Tennessee's Evening Skies

For a brief moment in time, a celestial wanderer that only visits every 80,000 years is making an appearance in Tennessee's night skies. Comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas, also known as Atlas A3 C/2023, is currently visible, but the window of opportunity is rapidly closing. This comet is expected to be brightest for just 45 minutes after sunset. To spot it, look towards the western horizon, near the planet Venus. As the days progress, the comet will rise higher in the sky but also become less prominent. Its last visible date is set for October 21, after which it won’t be seen again for another 80,000 years.
