San Diego's story starts in the US, where he grew up in an upper-middle-class suburb of Marin County. He worked as a computer network specialist and was known to carry a handgun. In 2003, he disappeared after the FBI had him under surveillance. For the next 20 years, there were sightings of him around the world, but he always managed to stay one step ahead. The companies targeted by San Diego were connected to Huntingdon Life Sciences, a company that tests drugs and chemicals on animals. A group called the Revolutionary Cells-Animal Liberation Brigade took responsibility for the bombings.
