Celebrating Heroes Through Music and Tales

Coeur d'Alene, USASun May 25 2025
June 3rd will kick off a special event honoring veterans and active military personnel. This event is part of the ongoing Memorial Day celebrations and marks the 80th anniversary of World War II's end. It will feature a mix of local celebrities and veterans sharing their stories and performing songs. This isn't the first time such an event has taken place, but it's the first since the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will be a variety show, blending music and storytelling. It will feature beautiful voices singing familiar tunes that the audience can join in on. Veterans will take the stage to share their experiences and will be honored at the end of the show. The goal is to pay tribute to those who have served and are currently serving, acknowledging their sacrifices and the impact on their families. The event is more than just a performance; it's a way to raise funds for a good cause. Proceeds will go to Newby-ginnings of North Idaho, a nonprofit based in Post Falls. This organization supports veterans and military families in need. It was founded by Theresa Hart, a Gold Star mom who lost her son, Nicholas Newby, in Iraq. The organization is currently working on moving into a new facility, and the event aims to support this effort. The production will feature a variety of performers, including tap dancers, a children's choir, and the Cancer and Community Charities Coeur d’Aleers singing group. About 10 veterans will also share their stories. Everyone involved is volunteering their time and talents to support the cause. This sense of community and mutual support is a key aspect of the event. The show will run from June 3rd to June 8th at the Lake City Playhouse. Tickets are $15 at the door, but veterans can attend for free. The Lake City Playhouse is located at 1320 E. Garden Ave. , Coeur d'Alene. This event is a great opportunity to come together, honor our heroes, and support a worthy cause. It's a chance to reflect on the sacrifices made by our military personnel and to show our appreciation.
