You might think that movie stars Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are only famous for their roles in films like "It Ends With Us" and "Deadpool. " But they're also known for something else: their generosity. Recently, they donated $1 million to help with the relief efforts for Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. These hurricanes caused a lot of damage in states like Florida and North Carolina. The money will go towards providing essentials like water, food, and supplies to communities that have faced huge losses.
Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, who leads the Feeding America charity, said that the couple's support has been really helpful in the past. They've donated to Feeding America before, during, and after disasters. This time, their donation will help food banks respond quickly to the needs of people affected by the hurricanes.
Hurricane Milton has already caused the deaths of at least seven people in Florida, and Hurricane Helene's death toll has risen to over 227. Hurricane Milton has moved on to the Bahamas after flooding Florida and damaging Tampa's Tropicana Field, where rescue workers were staying.
This isn't the first time Blake and Ryan have stepped up to help. Last year, during the Israel-Hamas War, they donated $1 million to the International Committee of the Red Cross to support kids from both Israel and Palestine. They also contributed to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation during the actors' strike.
Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, the couple donated $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. They've also supported other causes like providing safe water and helping refugees after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
