Celebrities' Instagram Accounts Used for Crypto Trickery

Sat Aug 23 2025
Recently, the Instagram accounts of famous musicians Adele, Future, Tyla, and the late Michael Jackson were taken over by hackers. These hackers used the accounts to promote a fake cryptocurrency called FREEBANDZ, which is not connected to Future or his brand. The coin was created on a Solana platform called Pump. fun. The hackers posted images of Future holding a giant coin with the name of the cryptocurrency on it. The coin's value shot up to almost $900, 000 before it crashed down to $20, 000. The hackers made a lot of money by selling their coins quickly, which caused the price to drop. They got away with around $49, 000. The posts promoting the fake cryptocurrency have since been removed, but none of the celebrities have spoken about the incident publicly yet. This is not the first time something like this has happened. Other big names like Barack Obama, Elon Musk, and even the UFC have had their social media accounts hacked to promote similar scams. These hackers usually target well-known accounts to make their fake coins seem more legitimate. They trick people into buying the coins, then sell their own shares, causing the price to crash. This is known as a pump-and-dump scheme. It's important for people to be careful and do their research before investing in any cryptocurrency, especially if it's being promoted through suspicious means.
