ChatGPT Now Lets You Schedule Tasks and Reminders

GlobalWed Jan 15 2025
Want to get reminders and set tasks without lifting a finger? ChatGPT's got you! Starting this week, paying users of ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro can ask the AI to handle their reminders and recurring tasks. Simply ask, "Remind me about my passport in six months, " and ChatGPT will send a push notification on your device. Or, set regular tasks like, "Give me a weather-based weekend plan every Friday. " This new task feature shows how AI is evolving. ChatGPT can now browse the web on a schedule, like checking for concert tickets once a month. But remember, it can't make purchases or run continuous searches just yet. To access tasks, choose "4o with scheduled tasks" from the dropdown in ChatGPT. You can set and manage tasks through chat or a dedicated tasks manager in the web app. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hints that 2025 will be a big year for AI agents, expecting them to "join the workforce. " Tasks is a starting point, offering reminders and unique information requests that previous assistants couldn't handle. While there are limitations, it's a step towards more independent AI systems. OpenAI is testing how people use the tasks feature before making it widely available. For now, you can't set tasks through Advanced Voice Mode. Even though AI models like ChatGPT push technology forward, they still struggle with simple tasks smartphones can do. OpenAI is working on more complex tasks for the future. Looking ahead, OpenAI plans to release Operator, an AI that can write code and book travel. This comes with potential challenges, as the more advanced AI systems get, the more likely we are to encounter problems. OpenAI's safeguards could be put to the test soon.
