In her new book, "Cher: The Memoir, " Cher shares her tough times with ex-husband Sonny Bono. She talks about their pop duo, "Sonny & Cher, " and their popular '70s TV show. Howard Stern, a radio host, had strong feelings while reading Cher's book. He said Sonny did horrible things, making him want to "strangle" him. Cher married Sonny when she was just 16. They had a child, Chaz Bono. But their marriage was far from happy. Cher felt trapped and suicidal. Sonny was controlling and took all her money. He even thought about killing her once. Cher wrote that Sonny took her earnings because he wanted to be a mogul.
Howard Stern was angry about this. He said Sonny should have given Cher her fair share, especially since she was the mother of his child. Cher asked Sonny why he took her money. His answer was shocking. He said he took her money because he knew she would leave him. This made Stern even more upset. Cher also reached out to TV legend Lucille Ball for advice. Ball told Cher to leave Sonny and have faith in herself. This advice helped Cher. She became a successful actor and singer.
