Chicago Braces for Rare Snowstorm

Chicago, USAFri Nov 28 2025
Chicago is about to see a big change in the weather. A winter storm is coming. It might dump more than 10 inches of snow in some areas. The National Weather Service says this will be the first big snowfall in nearly five years. The snow will start early Saturday morning. It will get worse during the day and slow down late Saturday night. The warning is in effect from 3 a. m. Saturday to 6 a. m. Sunday. People should avoid driving if they can. But if they must, they should have a flashlight, food, and water in their car. Chicago hasn't seen much snow lately. The last time it snowed more than 6 inches was in February 2021. Last winter was one of the least snowy on record. O'Hare Airport only recorded 11. 9 inches of snow. That's the least since 1937. This storm is happening before meteorological winter starts on December 1. After the snow, temperatures will stay cold. More snow is possible on Monday afternoon.
