Chicago is bracing for a harsh weekend, with snow and dangerously low temperatures on the way. The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for several counties in Illinois and Wisconsin, starting Saturday evening and lasting until Sunday noon. A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for LaSalle and Livingston counties, from Saturday morning to evening. Meteorologists are predicting clouds to roll in on Friday afternoon, followed by snow in parts of the area. The temperature is set to plummet over the weekend, with wind chills potentially reaching -30 degrees. Saturday will be mostly cloudy and breezy, with snow expected to accumulate, especially south of Interstate 80. The city of Aurora is preparing for this by opening a warming center, offering meals and cots for sleeping. The center has been busy, with most cots full every night. Aurora's mayor has made it a priority to open warming centers whenever the temperature dips below 32 degrees, aiming to prevent deaths from exposure to the cold. The mayor's initiative highlights the seriousness of the situation and the importance of having a warm place to stay during extreme weather. The coldest part of the weekend is expected to be Sunday morning, just before the Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field. Although winds may ease up by Sunday afternoon, it will still be bitterly cold, with wind chills ranging from -5 to -10 during the game. However, there is some good news: a warming trend is expected next week, with temperatures potentially climbing into the 40s by Wednesday.
