Chilly Thanksgiving Ahead: What to Expect
Cincinnati, Ohio, USAMon Nov 24 2025
Thanksgiving this year is shaping up to be a frosty one. The week leading up to the holiday will start off with some fog, but by Wednesday, a cold front will sweep in, bringing the chillest temperatures of the season so far.
Rain is on the menu for Monday night, sticking around until early Wednesday. Once Wednesday rolls around, temperatures will take a nosedive, hitting the 20s by Thursday night. Good news for those planning outdoor activities: no rain is expected on Thanksgiving Day itself.
Historically, Cincinnati's average high temperature on Thanksgiving is 48 degrees, with an average low of 32. But this year, it's looking like we'll be below average. The coldest high temperature ever recorded was a bone-chilling 17 degrees back in 1930. On the flip side, the warmest high was a balmy 71 degrees in 1896.
The forecast for the week is a mix of sun and rain. Monday will be partly sunny, with temperatures around 56 degrees. Rain moves in Monday night, with a 90% chance of precipitation. Tuesday will be rainy, with highs near 62 degrees. By Wednesday, the rain will taper off, and temperatures will start to drop, hitting a low of 28 degrees by Wednesday night.
Thanksgiving Day will be mostly sunny, but chilly, with a high near 38 degrees. The cold will stick around into Thursday night, with lows around 22 degrees. The rest of the weekend will see a mix of rain and snow, with temperatures slowly climbing back up.
