Obesity is a big problem worldwide, causing health issues like high blood sugar and anxiety. Scientists wanted to see if giving mice a special probiotic called Pediococcus pentosaceus E24-168, along with exercise, could help with these problems.
They used mice that were fed a high-fat diet to make them obese. The mice were split into five groups: one that did nothing, one that exercised, one that got the probiotic, and one that did both.
After a month, the mice that did nothing got worse. They gained weight, had higher blood sugar, and showed more anxiety. The mice that exercised or took the probiotic alone got a little better. But the big surprise was the group that did both. They lost weight, had better blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and were less anxious.
This shows that combining probiotics and exercise might be a powerful way to fight obesity and its related problems. But remember, this was done on mice, not people. So, while it's promising, more research is needed to see if it works the same way in humans.
