Community Earth Day Bash in Cumberland County
New Cumberland, USASat Apr 18 2026
The New Cumberland Collective is set to host its fourth Earth and Arts Festival on Sunday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. at the local library. The event is part of several Earth Day celebrations in central Pennsylvania, which take place on Wednesday.
This year’s program will include hands‑on workshops about native plants and wildlife. Attendees can meet falcons, alpacas, and other animals that have been rescued by the West Shore Wildlife Center. The Pennsylvania Game Commission will hold short lessons on fishing for both kids and adults.
Founder Drew Lawrence says the idea grew from his love of nature. He believes climate action starts in one’s own backyard. “The environment is something I have always cared about, and turning my attention to what I can do in my immediate neighborhood, in addition to other people who are helping the festival, is sort of what drives us, ” he explains.
The collective focuses on teaching people how ecosystems work. Cumberland County hosts many natural areas, such as Mount Holly Marsh, where turtles, geese, and deer live. By learning about local species, residents can create habitats that protect wildlife instead of harming them.
Lawrence hopes the festival will bring neighbors together. Some visitors come for the learning activities, while others enjoy food trucks, crafts, or live music. The event offers a mix of education and fun so people can choose what interests them most.
