Cooper Kupp, a star wide receiver, has been released by the Los Angeles Rams. This move comes after the team couldn't find a trade partner willing to take on his $20 million contract. The Rams are saving $7. 52 million in cap space by releasing him. This decision might have been influenced by the recent signing of Davante Adams, a three-time first-team All-Pro wideout, to a two-year, $44 million contract. Kupp, who will turn 32 in June, announced his release on social media. He expressed his gratitude for the eight years he spent with the Rams and the memories he created. He also hinted at a new chapter in his career, saying, "Next chapter starts now. Best is yet to come. " Kupp was drafted by the Rams in 2017 and quickly became a key player in their offense. He helped the Rams reach the Super Bowl in 2018 and had an incredible 2021 season. He led the league in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, earning him the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award. Injuries have slowed Kupp down in recent years. He has missed a combined 18 games since the Rams won the Super Bowl. His performance has also declined, with an average of 67 catches, 753 yards receiving, and six receiving touchdowns in an average of 11 games played since his historic 2021 campaign. Despite this, several teams might be interested in his services. He is due $5 million in guaranteed salary from the Rams in 2025. The Dallas Cowboys could be a good fit for Kupp. They need reinforcements around CeeDee Lamb, and Kupp's addition would free things up for Lamb while also giving Dak Prescott another established weapon to throw to. The Seattle Seahawks also need help at the wide receiver position after cutting Tyler Lockett and trading DK Metcalf. Kupp wouldn't be the sole focus of opposing defenses in Seattle with Jaxon Smith-Njigba catching 100 passes in 2024. The Baltimore Ravens could also be interested in Kupp. They signed DeAndre Hopkins to a one-year deal, but they could still use another middle of the field/slot weapon. Kupp would make a lot of sense for a Baltimore squad that's right in the thick of Super Bowl contention. The Denver Broncos could also be a good fit for Kupp. He would play with an up-and-coming quarterback and inside Sean Payton's pass-happy offense. The Los Angeles Chargers could also be interested in Kupp. They have the second-most cap space in the NFL and could outbid anyone for him.
