Could Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz Bring Back The Mummy Magic?
Potential Reunion in the Works Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz might be teaming up again for a new "The Mummy" movie. This news comes from Deadline, which says it heard about it from several people in the know. Even though nothing is official yet, it looks like David Coggeshall, who wrote "The Family Plan" and "The Deliverance," is working on the script. He even shared the news on Twitter, saying, "Cat's out of the bag, I guess :)"
A Look Back at Their Past Collaborations Fraser and Weisz first worked together in the 1999 hit "The Mummy." That movie was a big deal and helped their careers take off. Both actors have since won Oscars—Weisz in 2006 for "The Constant Gardener" and Fraser in 2023 for "The Whale." They also starred together in the 2001 sequel, "The Mummy Returns." Fraser later appeared alone in "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" in 2008, after Weisz's character died in the second movie. Neither actor was part of the 2017 reboot, which didn't do so well.
The Big Question: How Would Evelyn Carnahan Return? One big question is how Weisz's character, Evelyn Carnahan, would fit into the new movie since she died in the second film. But Fraser has said he's open to playing Rick O'Connell again if the story is right. "I don't know how it would work," he told Variety. "But I'd be open to it if someone came up with the right conceit."
Waiting for Official Confirmation Right now, no one from Universal Pictures or the actors' teams has said anything official. So, fans will just have to wait and see if this reunion happens.
