Cowboys Say No to Davante Adams Due to Money Troubles

The Dallas Cowboys have made it clear they won't be chasing after star wide receiver Davante Adams this offseason. Why? Because their wallet is feeling a bit light, as explained by executive vice president Stephen Jones. After giving CeeDee Lamb a fancy new contract in August, the team doesn't plan on splurging on another elite pass-catcher anytime soon.
Adams, with his impressive salary of $983,333 per week and an extra $30,000 for each game he plays, is simply out of their price range. Jones thinks getting Adams at that cost would be a tough shot given the Cowboys' current money situation. They've already put a lot of cash into quarterback Dak Prescott, who signed his own massive deal last month averaging $60 million annually.
To keep some financial wiggle room for future contracts, like maybe one for star edge rusher Micah Parsons after this season, the Cowboys need to find ways to free up more cap space. They could potentially carry over around $24 million under next year's cap if they hold off on signing Parsons immediately.
