Cranberry's New Wegmans: A Job Boost in Town

Cranberry Township, USAWed Jan 15 2025
Cranberry Township is buzzing with excitement over the upcoming Wegmans store, which is expected to bring a significant job boost to the area. The supermarket giant has teamed up with developer Sippel Enterprises LP to build its first Western Pennsylvania location on 13 acres near Cool Springs Drive. This new venture is part of the larger Cranberry Springs development. Bruce Hezlep, the board of supervisors chairman, highlighted that Wegmans will not only offer residents another shopping option but also generate between 400 and 500 jobs. The store, spanning approximately 115, 000 square feet, will be accessible through a connected pedestrian system linking Cranberry Springs and Cranberry Woods. This includes the MSA Thruway, which opened in 2021, providing direct access from Interstate 79. The new Wegmans will feature a diverse selection of products, including fresh produce, a wide range of seafood and meat, a bakery, deli, cheese department, and a substantial wine and beer selection. Though Wegmans hasn't shared a timeline, township officials anticipate the project to take about a year. This timeline includes the necessity for planning advisory commission approval and final supervisor approval. Hezlep emphasized the board's role in ensuring the project meets the township's needs and maintains the high standards Cranberry is known for. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Wegmans officials during the planning and development phase.
