However, the recent surge in real estate prices, dubbed the "Trump bump, " has brought about an unexpected side effect: a rise in opportunistic crimes. Local authorities have been quietly warning residents to keep their homes and cars secure. The town, known for its high-end properties and billionaire residents, including the former President Donald Trump, has seen an increase in burglaries. Residents, accustomed to leaving their doors unlocked, are now being advised to lock up tightly. The influx of attention to Palm Beach seems to have drawn the unwanted attention of criminals. Private security forces are being brought in from other states due to a shortage in Florida. While the main issues are in neighboring West Palm Beach, the security at Mar-a-Lago, Trump's private club, has been beefed up significantly. Getting to Mar-a-Lago now involves navigating multiple security checkpoints, including bomb-sniffing dogs and mirror inspections under cars. Once inside, visitors face metal detectors and pat-downs, making the security measures almost comparable to those at the White House. Advanced technology, such as a robotic dog named Spot, is also employed to patrol the perimeter. The chaotic scene, with no restrictions on guests, poses unique security challenges. However, a representative from the Palm Beach police did not comment on the situation.
