NBC is making a big move in the TV world. They've just given the green light to two new crime dramas. One is called "Puzzled. " It's about a guy named Mike Brink. He was a college athlete, but after a fire, he got hurt. Now, he can see things differently. This helps him solve crimes with the police. The other show is "What the Dead Know. " It follows a death investigator named Ava Ledger. She's great with dead bodies, but living people are a different story. She teams up with the NYPD to crack tough cases.
Both shows are based on books. "Puzzled" comes from a novel by Danielle Trussoni. "What the Dead Know" is based on a memoir by Barbara Butcher. Universal Television is behind both projects.
NBC has been busy ordering new shows. They've already picked up five drama pilots. All of them are about crime. Most are procedurals, which means each episode is a new case. This shows NBC's focus this season. Even their only comedy pilot so far is about a private detective.
The people behind these shows have lots of experience. Joey Falco, who created "Puzzled, " has worked on shows like "Charmed" and "Sleepy Hollow. " Beth Rinehart, the creator of "What the Dead Know, " has worked on "FBI: Most Wanted" and "Law & Order: SVU. "
It's unclear how many comedy shows NBC will pick up. They've only ordered one so far. But with five drama pilots already in the works, it's clear NBC is betting big on crime shows.
