Dana Carvey: Back on SNL in December, Skips Elon Musk Impression

USASun Nov 24 2024
Funnyman Dana Carvey is set to revisit the Saturday Night Live stage in December. He's been a regular this season, impersonating President Joe Biden and even trying his hand at Elon Musk. But don't expect to see him do Musk again anytime soon. Carvey admits he's not great at capturing the billionaire's unique accent, which blends influences from South Africa, Canada, and Pennsylvania. The SNL veteran recently shared a behind-the-scenes story about host John Mulaney. After wrapping up a show, Carvey and Mulaney found themselves skipping under the bleachers. "It feels really good compared to walking or even running, " Carvey said on his Superfly podcast. "So now, if you ever see me on SNL, just remember, within seconds, I'll be skipping. " Carvey's return to SNL follows a seven-year hiatus. He initially joined the cast in 1986 and left in 1993. His comeback this season has been a hit, with Maya Rudolph as Vice President Kamala Harris, Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff, and Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz joining him on stage. Musk, however, wasn't thrilled with Carvey's impression of him. He criticized the show, saying it's been "dying slowly for years. " Carvey took it in stride, admitting he didn't quite nail Musk's complex accent.
