DC is shaking things up with a new plan for their movies and TV shows. Two years ago, the heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, shared their vision for a unified DC universe. They want to release two live-action and one animated DC movie each year, along with two live-action and two animated series for Max per year. However, for 2025, there's only one series planned: Season 2 of Peacemaker, set to premiere in August. The duo's goal is to fix how DC properties are used across TV and film. They want to avoid having the same superhero appear in different ways on the big screen and on TV, like what happened with Superman in the past. Safran explained that the DC brand was being pulled in different directions by various creative teams, which made it hard for fans to follow. This lack of unity was confusing for fans and hurt the brand's identity. Gunn hinted at a big project in the works, similar to the Avengers, but didn't share any details. Safran confirmed that everything they promised two years ago has come to life. They've greenlit five movies, made three live-action series, and are producing five animated series. They've also released a documentary that won big awards. Here's a look at some of the upcoming DC projects. The movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is halfway through production and is set to release in June 2026. Clayface, directed by James Watkins, is set to start filming this summer. The Batman 2, directed by Matt Reeves, is in the works with a release date of October 1, 2027. Batman Brave and the Bold, a separate universe Batman, is also in development. SGT Rock, a World War II movie, is looking for a lead actor. Swamp Thing, directed by James Mangold, is in the works. Teen Titans is being written by Ana Nogueira. There's also a screenplay in the works about Deathstroke and Bane, and The Authority, a movie about antiheroes, is still in development. On the TV side, Peacemaker Season 2 is coming in August. Waller, a spinoff about the espionage director, is still in development. Lanterns is set to premiere in early 2026. The Penguin Season 2 is still being figured out. Paradise Lost, a series about Themyscira, is in the works. Booster Gold, a series about a loser from the future, is moving forward with a new creator. Blue Beetle animated series is also in the works, following the events of the movie.
