Deadpool's Next Move: A Supporting Role in the X-Men Universe

This decision shows his commitment to creative control and his desire to explore new storylines. Reynolds is currently working on several treatments for a new movie that would feature Deadpool alongside three or four X-Men characters. In this potential film, Deadpool would take a step back from the lead role, allowing the X-Men characters to shine. This approach could open up unexpected possibilities for the X-Men, as Reynolds believes that keeping Deadpool in a supporting role would allow for more creative freedom. The idea of Deadpool interacting with the X-Men is not entirely new. In Deadpool & Wolverine, villains like Sabertooth and Pyro, as well as X-Men like Colossus, were featured. Reynolds even convinced Hugh Jackman to come out of retirement to play Wolverine. Additionally, Reynolds wrote a role for Channing Tatum in Deadpool & Wolverine, a character who was originally attached to a Gambit movie that never happened. Reynolds's interest in writing has grown significantly over the past year. He has been focusing on scripting the Paramount comedy Boy Band, a film about aging members of a boy band. His friend Hugh Jackman has expressed interest in co-starring, and the project is part of Reynolds's shift towards producing and writing. Reynolds's legal battle with Justin Baldoni, the director and co-star of his wife Blake Lively's film It Ends with Us, has also been a significant part of his recent life.
