The Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers are set to face off on Monday Night Football. Even though both teams have already seen their playoff dreams end, the Lions are eager to avenge last year's NFC Championship loss. Coach Dan Campbell isn't holding back, playing his top players to win. Kickoff is at 8:15 p. m. ET.
The Lions won the coin toss but deferred to their defense. The 49ers started strong, with Deebo Samuel leading them into Lions territory. Brock Purdy’s QB sneak on fourth down kept the drive alive, and they scored on a touchdown pass to Ricky Pearsall. The Lions answered back with a touchdown, but the extra point was blocked, making it 7-6 49ers.
In the second quarter, the 49ers continued their scoring streak with another touchdown. The Lions fought back with a trick play that led to a 41-yard touchdown by Jameson Williams, reducing the gap to 14-13. The 49ers extended their lead before halftime, making it 21-13.
The Lions tied the game at 21-21 in the third quarter with a touchdown and a two-point conversion. However, the 49ers quickly regained the lead, 28-21. The Lions narrowed the gap with a field goal, making it 28-24. Before the end of the third quarter, the Lions scored another touchdown, leading 31-28.
